“Vipreet” / “Viparita” Rajyog means a “reverse” or “contrary” kind of Rajyoga — a yoga where seemingly adverse conditions turn into strengths.

How it forms

Here are the main conditions:

  • It involves the lords of the trik houses (6th, 8th, 12th). These are normally considered “difficult” houses in many respects.

  • Vipreet Rajyoga occurs when the lord of one of these houses is placed in another trik house. For example:

    • 6th‑lord in 8th or 12th house

    • 8th‑lord in 6th or 12th house

    • 12th‑lord in 6th or 8th house

  • There are three classical types/names of Vipreet Rajyoga depending on which trik lord and where:

    1. Harsh Vipreet Raj Yoga — 6th‑house lord is in one of the trik houses.

    2. Vipreet Saral Raj Yoga — 8th‑lord in a trik house.

    3. Vipreet Vimal Raj Yoga — 12th‑lord in a trik house.

Neech Bhang (Raj) Yoga

“Neech Bhang Rajyog” means “cancellation of debilitation” yoga, turning weakness (due to a planet being debilitated) into strength and possibly royal or elevated status.

How it forms

Some of the typical conditions:

  • A planet is debilitated (in its “neech,” weak sign).

  • But this debilitation is cancelled (bhang) by certain things, such that the debilitated planet begins to give good results rather than purely difficult ones. These cancellation conditions include things like:

    • The lord of the sign in which the planet is debilitated being placed in a Kendra (one of the angular houses: 1, 4, 7, 10) or being well‑placed.

    • Or the debilitated planet becoming “Vargottama” in the Navamsa (i.e. occupying the same sign in the D‑9 chart as in the birth chart).

    • Also, the “owner” of the debilitated sign being dignified or strong; sometimes the exalted counterpart of the debilitated planet playing a role.

Comparison: Vipreet vs. Neech Bhang

Feature

Vipreet Rajyog

Neech Bhang Raj Yoga

Origin

From bad houses (trik: 6,8,12) where lords are placed in other trik houses; adversity reversed into advantage.

From debilitated planet getting its weakness cancelled by specific placements (exalted sign lords, dignified condition, etc.)

Type of struggle

Hardships because houses represent obstacles, losses, hidden enemies etc.

Weakness due to debilitation, limitations, difficulties in early life or in certain areas

Turnaround mechanism

The trick is that adversity’s impact lessens, and the lord of the trik house, despite being in a “difficult” house, gives benefic / success‐type results.

The debilitated planet's debility is cancelled (bhang), after which it begins to function well; often reaches strength or favorable status.

Timing

Usually requires crossing difficulty, then sometime in life (often later, or during certain dasha) the yoga bears fruits.

Similar: first the debilitated phase, then the cancellation, then success; timing depends on dasha and strength.

Nature of benefits

Recognition, power, position, ability to turn obstacles into stepping stones.

Overcoming weaknesses; specific gains in area ruled by that planet; possibly elevated status.
